Sturgeon's blast helps send Mustangs to 3A finals
MANTACHIE – Blayne Sturgeon’s hard work paid off in a most timely fashion Friday night. The junior catcher’s solo home run proved to be the difference, lifting Mantachie to a 3-2 win over Kossuth and a sweep of the Class 3A North finals.
Sunshine and warm temperatures continue Saturday afternoon
High pressure lingers over our area Saturday afternoon and will continue to give us beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures. By this afternoon, we will be in the low to mid 80s with blue skies. We could see a brief, light shower this evening, but I see a lot of us staying dry.
After some early morning fog, we will see a lot of sunshine as the rule for most of our Saturday
High pressure moved into our area today and that gave our area a nice mostly sunshine filled day. We saw most of the high temperatures this afternoon range from the middle 70s into the lower 80s. We also saw our humidity values on the lower side as some dry air moved into our area.

Tupelo High student removed from campus for weapon possession
OXFORD - A Tupelo High School student was removed from campus the morning of Friday, May 10, after being found in possession of a weapon. School officials received a report that the student had a weapon, they investigated, and THS administrators and local law enforcement “immediately addressed the situation,” according to an email from Gregg Ellis, the Tupelo Public School District’s director of marketing and communications.
