City of Emporia passes FY25 budget
The city of Emporia has adopted its budget for the fiscal year 2024-2025 which is set to take effect July 1, 2024. The general fund totals $34,973,202 and the utility fund budget totals $18,324,759 for an operating budget of nearly $53,300,000. The budget for fiscal year 2023-2024 amounted to a significantly smaller $35,000,000.

Felon arrested after Halifax County deputies find meth inside Roanoke Rapids home, officials say
ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WNCN) – A man is back in law enforcement custody after deputies said they found methamphetamine inside a home in Halifax County on Monday. According to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, deputies executed a narcotics search warrant at 11:30 p.m. for a residence on Raleigh Drive in Roanoke Rapids. The target of the investigation, identified as 31-year-old Brandon Edward Reeves, was found inside the home during the time of the search, deputies said.

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WNCN) — On Sunday morning in Roanoke Rapids, a home security camera captured the moment a blue bike was stolen from a front porch. Roanoke Rapids police have shared the video in hopes that someone will recognize the suspect who took and rode off on the bike. Officer M.
