A brown pelican discovered on Marco Island last week is presumed to have red tide poisoning, according to the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. “Typically, we first get the notion that red tide is around when birds are sick,” said Dr. Michael Parsons, of the Water School at Florida Gulf Coast University.
Marco Island's Caxambas Park set to begin $3M hurricane repair project
MARCO ISLAND, Fla. — Collier County has announced the hurricane restoration project for Marco Island's Caxambas Park will begin on Tuesday, May 28. "Hurricane Ian sort of changed all that. The only progress we saw after the hurricane was the parking lot being redone. I'm glad to see the progress, finally now, it's been what, a year and a half, going on two years since the hurricane destroyed this place," said Capt. Carlos Escarra, of Nautical Life Shelling Tours.
