Moms Breaking the Silence schedules two community events
Moms Breaking the Silence will hold two events in the next few months. The Third Annual Family Wellness Day will be at the South City Park of Brookfield on May 18. A free 5K walk/run will start at 9:30 a.m. Other free activities will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., including inflatables and oobleck stations. There will also be hot dogs, chips, water, and popsicles available.

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is hosting a Prescribed Burn Workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, at the Fountain Grove Conservation Area near Meadville.
Free stargazing event at Little Compton Lake offers telescope views
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a free Dark Skies stargazing event from 5 to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, at the Little Compton Lake Conservation Area south of Hale in northeastern Carroll County. Participants will have the option to camp overnight, and MDC staff will provide fishing and archery lessons with equipment included before a dinner break and nightfall. The event is in partnership with the Astronomical Society of Kansas City.

Macon couple involved in accident on Highway 36 near Bevier
An accident involving a 2012 Honda Odyssey occurred on Highway 36 westbound, approximately one mile west of Bevier, on the morning of April 23, 2024, at 7:25 a.m. The driver, James A. Busick, 35, of Macon, Missouri, lost control of the vehicle, which then veered off the left side of the highway and struck a ditch. Busick, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, sustained minor damages to his vehicle.
