Burton Park is getting a makeover

Burton Park on Sunset Boulevard is getting a makeover.

The Mansfield Arts and Culture Sector will host an Earth Day Celebration as part of its contribution to the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District's 28th annual Earth Stewardship Day Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 21 at Burton Park.

Public Works Director Louis Andres said in a news release the Mansfield Arts and Culture Sector has partnered with the city of Mansfield Parks Department, Mechanics Bank, Home Depot and Two Cousins Pizza to give Burton Park a makeover.

On Sunday the park will be cleaned of litter, native wildflowers planted and bushes planted around the tennis/pickleball courts. A mural will be painted on the pavilion.

"We will have free food, birdhouse projects for children, prizes and a collaborative mural project on the pavilion led by local artist Wenn Yockey. We invite all community members to join us in making Burton Park a little more beautiful," Andres said.
