Manitowoc families can try laugh yoga, swimming and more at YMCA's Healthy Kids Day event Saturday

MANITOWOC — Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA is hosting its annual Healthy Kids Day event, a free family-friendly event designed to promote health, wellness and active lifestyles.

A news release from the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA said Saturday's event is part of the YMCA's "commitment to nurturing the potential of every child and helping families live healthier lives."

"We're thrilled to host our annual Healthy Kids Day event, bringing families together for a day of fun and promoting the importance of health and wellness," YMCA CEO Julie Grossman said in the news release.

"We're grateful for the support of Lakeside Foods and our community partners in making this event possible," she added.

The event starts at 9 a.m. April 20 with a mindful walk outdoors, which provides participants with a chance to connect with nature while practicing mindfulness, the release said.

After the walk, families can do a variety of activities, including family swim and open gym games.

A gymnastics showcase will be held at 10 a.m. and Family Laugh Yoga at 10:15-10:45 a.m.

Also included will be food trucks, a fire truck and a squad car for kids to explore, and healthy snacks provided by Grow It Forward.
