Guest Opinion: Parks Candidate Has Vision for A Strong Senior Center
When looking at the field of candidates for the Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission, I’m always interested in seeing practical, well-thought-out ideas for our community resources. Jeff Bonnington recently caught my attention with a NextDoor post outlining his “5 P’s” approach to our Parks and Recreation senior services. Bonnington brings a strong professional background, with a 40-year career in business operations, that I believe the Commission’s decision-making process would benefit from. Since moving to Ashland a decade ago and subsequently becoming a Lithia Park tour guide, he’s had time to consider how the Ashland Parks and Recreation resources could be managed and sustained for every generation. While Mr. Bonnington is committed to supporting programs for Ashland residents across ages, I found his compelling vision for senior services worth sharing with Ashland Chronicle readers. Below, he breaks down his thoughts on a few ways to build stronger senior programs and a more connected Ashland.
