Outdoor market season is here
When the outdoor farmers markets open for the season, you know summer in Champaign-Urbana is on its way. We’re lucky to have two outdoor markets in C-U: the Tuesday afternoon market in Downtown Champaign and the Saturday morning market in Urbana. Both run May through October. If you’re a regular market shopper, you probably delight in watching the shift in produce and goods. May and early June means asparagus, garlic, and plant starters. Soon enough there will be strawberries, peaches, watermelon, and corn. (Among tons of other things!) There are always delicious breads, pastries, eggs, and meats available. Our Food & Drink editor Alyssa Buckley gives the rundown on what you can expect each month, and what she suggests you seek out in our Market Watch column.
