Woman killed after car strikes tree in Tangipahoa, police say
LORANGER, La. — A 43-year-old woman was killed in a fatal car crash when her vehicle veered off the roadway and struck at tree Wednesday afternoon. According to Louisiana State Police, Hammond native Jill Tarver was traveling southbound on LA Hwy 443 in a 2014 Toyota Camry when the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m.

National Weather Service confirms EF-1 tornado in Kentwood
KENTWOOD, La. — The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado hit Kentwood on Tuesday after severe thunderstorms swept through the area. The storm had wind peaks up to 100 mph and nearly every tree in the storm's path snapped, the NWS reported. It also blew off the tin roof of a shed in the area.
