Ballot measures host open houses

The two entities with measures on the May ballot are holding open houses in the coming days to answer community questions about the measures they hope to pass.

The Jefferson County Fire & EMS District is holding open houses Wednesday, May 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Culver Fire Station and Wednesday, May 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Madras Fire Station.

JCF&EMS has a $14.5 million 15-year bond on the ballot. The bond hopes to fund fire station expansion and improvement and the purchasing of new vehicles and equipment.

The Madras Aquatic Center and Recreation District will be hosting an open house Thursday, May 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the MAC to enable the public to tour the facility and to ask questions about the upcoming ballot measures aimed at providing the district more stable funding. Refreshments will be provided, and everyone is invited.

MACRD has two measures on the ballot. The first dissolves the district, the second reforms the district with a set tax rate. Currently, the MAC relies on passing regular bonds for sustained funding.
