Madras will host Tri-Valley Conference rivals Crook County and Estacada, along with La Pine, in a track and field meet Wednesday, May 1, and it will be senior night.

League power Crook County is not expected to send its top athletes, though, according to MHS coach Mike Dove. With district nearing — Friday and Saturday, May 10-11 — many programs are lightening their competition loads.

Madras was scheduled to be at the Stayton Invitational this past weekend but the program decided to take off a weekend of competition.

"As a coaching staff, we decided to give our varsity kids some time to heal a little and train throughout the week before our May 1 meet," said Dove.

A contingent of JV athletes competed in the South Wasco Invitational in Maupin Saturday, April 27. The boys finished eighth with 23 points and the Buffalo girls ninth with 27 points.
