MADISON, Wis. -- Madison police arrested a man Saturday evening who they said had a loaded gun in his vehicle during a traffic stop on the Beltline.

Officers stopped the 25-year-old Fitchburg man on the eastbound Beltline near Todd Drive at around 4:45 p.m. Police said he was driving in the Flex Lane while it was closed.

The man allegedly admitted to having a loaded handgun in his vehicle. Police said he didn't have a concealed carry permit. Two loaded AR-15 magazines were allegedly found in the vehicle's glove box.

Police said the man initially gave officers a false name. He was arrested and faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing.
