MADISON, Wis. -- The Madison Fire Department said Friday that a lightning strike likely caused a fire at a duplex that displaced seven people Tuesday night.

Crews were called to a home along Cimarron Trail just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday. The fire was kept to one unit, but the people in the other unit were displaced due to power loss. Nobody was injured.

The fire started at around the same time that severe thunderstorms were moving through the Madison area. Those in the building initially reported that a TV in a home "blew up" and caught on fire.

Crews found that the TV and wall it was mounted on sustained significant damage. The drywall above the home's fireplace had also blown off and studs and insulation in the wall were exposed.

Damage costs are estimated at around $100,000.
