MCHS graduate, champion wrestler killed in wreck with deer
Jace Jachimski, a Madison County High School honor graduate for the Class of 2023, passed away on Nov. 25 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident with a deer. According to the Georgia State Patrol’s preliminary report, Jachimski was riding his dirt bike east on Brickyard Rd. in Comer on Nov. 20 when a deer crossed into his path. The dirt bike stuck the deer and Jachimski was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital for serious injuries. It was later reported that he succumbed to his injuries.

There are many volunteer opportunities in the community and many populations in need of assistance and support. Some of the most vulnerable citizens are children and youth in foster care. Perhaps the most unique, as well as most challenging but rewarding volunteer opportunity, for helping children experiencing foster care is being a Court Appointed Special Advocate or “CASA.”
P and Z postpones public hearing, vote on golf course and residential development
The Madison County Planning and Zoning Commission has postponed the public hearing and vote for a potential golf course and residential development in Hull. Matt Coutu with Woodland Asset Management recently requested to rezone 591.91 acres located at 0 Howard Rd., Hull, from A1 to A2/R3 to allow for a golf course and clubhouse on the property, as well as a residential development to support the golf course. A conditional use was also sought for the operation of the golf course and clubhouse.

Nov. 22—Edwardsville Police Department blotter from Nov. 8-18, 2023. On Nov. 11, a 26-year-old woman of Granite City was arrested on charges stemming from two failure to appear in court warrants: one for resisting a peace officer in Madison County and one for theft in Morgan County. The arrest occurred on Dunlap Cove Court. She was taken to the Madison County jail.
