I-99 concrete repairs bring overnight lane closures
State College, Pa. — Work to rehabilitate the concrete pavement on Interstate 99 between mile marker 58 and Exit 80 (Harrison Road) begins Monday, Oct. 5, PennDOT says. The project will restore and rehabilitate the approach slabs of several bridges along I-99 between mile markers 58 and 79, improving ride quality and extending their service life while enhancing safety for motorists, according to PennDOT. Starting Oct. 5, drivers should expect short-term single-lane closures on I-99 southbound through the stretch from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. PennDOT urges drivers to use caution in all work zones, obey posted speed limits and work zone signs, and always buckle up. PennDOT said the lane closures would shift to the northbound lanes a few weeks after work began, with work for this construction season continuing until Thanksgiving. All construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Overall work on the contract includes paving, concrete patching and bridge deck repairs, crack sealing, line painting and miscellaneous construction. Merlo Inc. of Mineral Point is the contractor on the $4.1 million project, which PennDOT expects to complete in November 2027. Travelers can check conditions on major roads at www.511PA.com. You can add the Milton and Doreen Engineering Building to that list now.
