(WJW) -It’s a lucky day in Northeast Ohio history.

It was one year ago tonight, April 19, 2023, that someone in NE Ohio was holding a winning Powerball jackpot ticket.

The $252.6 million ticket was sold at the Get Go, located at 265 East Highland Road in Macedonia. The cash-out payment for the ticket was $134.7 million, according to Ohio Lottery officials.

It took about a month before a winner stepped up to claim the prize. According to Ohio Lottery records, the pot of cash went to The Crazy Luck Trust .

It wasn’t the first major jackpot win in Ohio.

According to lottery officials, Ohio has had four jackpot winners since joining Powerball in April of 2010.

Prior to the 2023 big win, the Buckeye State had gone nearly a decade without a Powerball jackpot prize.

According to lottery records , in July 2014, Mary Ann Thompson claimed a $124.9 million jackpot. In 2010, Ohio had almost back-to-back jackpot winners with one on June 2 and another on June 23. Both prizes were claimed by trusts.

The odds of winning are the same for everyone —  1 in 292.2 million.
