Ceremony marks opening of new Wilshire Division police station
The Los Angeles Police Department’s new $1.7 million Wilshire Division police station at 4861 Venice Blvd. was dedicated in this photograph in the May 9, 1974, issue of the Park Labrea News. Capt. Robert S. Tucker, third from right, participated in the flag salute with other members of the command staff. It marked the second move for the police station, which was established in 1922 on Wilshire Boulevard in the Koreatown area, and was later located at 4526 W. Pico Blvd. The station remains open today and can be reached by calling (213)473-0476.

A teenager is in intensive care after he was brutally attacked by three people while eating at a fast-food restaurant in Watts. Jason Rios, who turned 15 just days ago, is in the intensive care unit following a disturbing assault at The Habit Burger Grill restaurant, his family said. The Chimmelier team will first take over Oakland’s K-Street restaurant at 3905 Broadway on Friday, May 17, with two items from its menu: the loaded K-chicken burger and the honey butter wings. Chimmelier will then make its next appearance on Saturday, May 18, for Dokkaebier’s Chimaek Festival in Oakland, which pairs chicken and beer alongside entertainment and games.

BHPD investigates antisemitic vandalism
The Beverly Hills Police Department is investigating two separate incidents of apparent pro-Palestinian vandalism that occurred shortly after midnight on May 13. One of the incidents took place following a Yom Hazikaron event – Israel’s Memorial Day – at the Saban Theatre at 8440 Wilshire Blvd. The second took place at a parking garage in the 9300 block of Olympic Boulevard. Similar incidents of vandalism appeared across the L.A. area the same night.
