Rep. Maxine Waters held a rally in Los Angeles Friday in support of Kamala Harris as the vice president continues to build momentum in her White House bid.The rally was held at the Proud Bird near LAX and featured elected officials, faith-based leaders and community organizers.Attendees gathered to show their support for Harris ahead of the Democratic Convention.At the event, Waters spoke about the issues the Democratic party had with President Joe Biden. Waters said she supported Biden and admitted it was a difficult time with all the changes, but she is now very excited with Harris."We want everybody to have an opportunity to be right at the start of what is going to be one of the best, fabulous, well-participated in campaigns that America has ever seen," Waters told the crowd.Harris is wrapping up her first full week as the likely Democratic presidential nominee after President Joe Biden's decision to end his reelection bid and endorse his second-in-command against Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump.On Friday, Harris received the backing of former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama.The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Laguna Beach woman says viral video doesn't capture whole story
A heated confrontation was caught on video between a homeowner in Laguna Beach and a family that was sitting on the sand in front of her home.The incident, which was captured in a now viral video, happened last week on Victoria Beach near the trail stairs.In the footage, the woman is seen yelling at the family and using a spool of rope to section off her property.The homeowner told Eyewitness News that she asked the group to leave once the beach closed. She claims she was being antagonized before being recorded.The family claims they were never on her property. Eyewitness News reached out to the family involved, but they declined to comment.According to the California Coastal Commission, all beaches are public up to the high tide line.

Firefighters rescue cat from Tarzana house fire; owner overcome with emotion, video shows
Firefighters made a heroic rescue and saved a cat from a home in Tarzana that was engulfed in flames.That moment proved to be emotionally overwhelming for the owner who sobbed and fell to his knees after firefighters handed him his beloved pet.The fire started Thursday night near West Topham Street. Irvine police seek help identifying porch pirate caught on video stealing package
Police are searching for a porch pirate who was captured on video stealing a package from a home in Orange County.The Irvine Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a woman who was seen riding a scooter in front of a Woodbridge area home on July 10.After leaving her scooter in front of the home, the woman is seen on video snatching the package from the doorstep with a big smile on her face.Police believe she may be responsible for other thefts.Anybody who recognizes her is urged to contact Irvine police at rnigg@cityofirvine.org.
Back-to-back car crashes caught on video on 101 Freeway in Encino
A wild scene involving back-to-back car crashes on the 101 Freeway in Encino was captured on video.The chain reaction happened around 12:15 a.m. Friday in the eastbound lanes near Hayvenhurst Avenue.Video from the scene shows one car slamming into the back of another car that was stopped in the fast lane. At one point, a man was seen walking on the freeway towards a car when there was another crash - and that person was nearly hit."I almost hit this car... because there were no flashing lights. It was dark. I got out to see if the person was OK and this car hit it, and he missed me by this much, I almost died," said one man who was involved.It appears at least seven cars were involved in the collisions. The cause of the crashes was unclear.No one appeared to be seriously hurt.

Evacuations ordered in Lake Elsinore as fire scorches more than 134 acres
Evacuation orders have been issued in Lake Elsinore as a fire spread to more than 134 acres Thursday evening.The Macy Fire was first reported around 5:40 p.m. in the area of Macy Street and Orange Street in the El Cariso neighborhood of unincorporated Lake Elsinore. It was spreading rapidly after a day in which temperatures hit the triple digits in the Inland Empire.Footage from the scene showed the flames tearing through brush on hillsides overlooking residential neighborhoods.
