Thieves use sly tactic to ransack Seattle storage units
SEATTLE - Despite layers of digital locks, surveillance cameras, and gated access, a self-storage unit on West Marginal Way fell victim to robbery. Ryan Newstrum estimates the thieves stole $10,000 worth of valuables from him. Among the list of stolen items: a prized guitar, expensive camping gear, high-end woodworking tools, as well as an art collection he’d amassed.
UW player pleads not guilty to rape charges
University of Washington running back Tylin “Tybo” Rogers faced a judge Thursday morning for his arraignment hearing. Rogers was arrested earlier this month and is accused of raping two women. During court Roger’s attorney pleaded not guilty on his behalf. According to court documents, both incidents happened during the 2023 season, between October and November. One of the victims is a student at Seattle Central Community College, and the other is an undergrad student at UW.

SEATTLE — University of Washington researchers are playing a key role in salvaging a species nearly wiped out by disease: the sunflower sea star. Sunflower sea stars are a creature that has historically been easy to find along the West Coast, stretching as far south as Mexico and as far north as Alaska. Ten years ago, disease nearly wiped them out, except for small populations in Washington and Alaska.
Driver charged with vehicular assault, DUI after cyclist struck on Bainbridge Island
A 37-year-old man from Bainbridge Island was arrested for an alleged vehicular assault while driving under the influence and a hit and run after he struck a cyclist. Around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, several people called 911 to report a driver in a truck on Highway 305 had pulled into the Clearwater Casino parking lot and was swerving and appeared to be drunk, according to court documents.
