JCPS breaks ground on early childhood center in Buechel
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) broke ground on a new early childhood center. The stand-alone facility is being built adjacent to Watterson Elementary School, which is located at 3900 Breckenridge Lane in Buechel. It will have 23 classrooms for up to 460 students aged 3 and 4 years old, according to the announcement.
Homeless veterans go from the streets to stability
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It’s been a few months since St. Vincent de Paul completed work on its latest housing project, and already it’s making a big impact. Called the Waypoint House, the 24-bed facility serves as a permanent housing for homeless veterans. Both men and women are welcome in the facility, and each person pays rent like they would anywhere else. But prices are set well below prices found elsewhere.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Tick season is in full force in Kentuckiana, so experts are offering precautions you can take to stay safe. Exposure to ticks can happen all year round, but they tend to be more active during warmer months. They're most commonly found in tall grass and wooded areas but they can also be found in your backyard and on your pets. The best way to prevent getting a tick bite is to use repellent with at least 20% DEET.
