LYNN HAVEN, Fla. ( WMBB ) – There is a new judge appointed to hear the case of Lynn Haven Police Chief Ricky Ramie.

The Chief Judge for the 14th Circuit Christopher Patterson assigned Judge Wade Mercer out of Marianna to hear Ramie’s case.

Last week Ramie’s attorney Waylon Graham asked Judge Shane Vann to recuse himself from the case. Ramie and Vann have been close friends for more than 30 years.

Judge Vann granted the motion yesterday, clearing the way for Judge Mercer to get the case.

Ramie is charged with leaving the scene of a fender-bender in the Ms. Newby’s lounge parking lot on December 30th.

The crash caused around $3,000 to the victim’s vehicle.

Earlier this month City Manager Vicky Gainer placed Ramie on administrative duties only , and he surrendered his gun, badge, and city-issued vehicle.

The case will be heard here in Bay County, but First Judicial Circuit’s State Attorney Ginger Bowden-Madden is prosecuting it.
