Worldwide competitors converge in Lufkin for annual Angelina Benefit Rodeo
LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Today kicked off opening day and KTRE Night for the 2024 Angelina Benefit Rodeo in Lufkin. This event has taken place in the region for over 76 years (40 of them inside the George H Henderson Jr. Exposition Center), with professional cowboy and cowgirl competitors from all over the world coming. We spoke to Rodeo chairman Jacob Morehead, who shares they expect to seat up to 6,000 visitors a day.
The library has a problem
Long before people could hide behind screens there was graffiti, an anonymous way to say something without consequences. Unfortunately, both still exist and SFA’s Ralph W. Steen library has become a prime example of graffiti and the dangers it poses. It can be found on tables, in cubbies, under cubbies, and in both gender’s bathrooms, although much more on the men’s side.
Student body elect holds high ambitions for next year
The SFA community will be looking forward to the leadership of the 2024-2025 Student Body President Nathan Lyons, a junior political science major from Lufkin, and Vice-President Uchenna Njoku, a sophomore nursing major from Abuja, Nigeria. Both individuals have a large heart and dedication to helping those around them, but most importantly ambitions for next year.
Diboll's Martin hits grand slam in second game for Angelina doubleheader sweep
LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Former Diboll Lumberjack Skyler Martin got four of five RBI on Wednesday in one mash with a grand slam as Angelina swept Coastal Bend in a doubleheader by the scores of 10-0 and 12-0. Batting second and starting at first base, Martin was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and four RBI in the second game. Her grand slam came in the third inning. In the first game, Martin was 0-for-1 with two runs scored, one RBI and two walks.
