Softball season ends at bi-district
The Albany Lady Lions saw a frustrating softball season end Friday,April 26 with a 12-0 loss to Anson in a Class 2A bi-district playoff. Albany finished 8-5 in a season that began with just nine players on the roster. While the Lady Lions got off to a good start, winning five of their first six, any momentum dissipated as they went more than a month without playingdue to lack of players. They resumed play in early April, getting in the second half of the District 8-2A schedule.
San Lucas honored by Cisco College
Eduardo San Lucas Esparza of Albany was named the top student in math of Cisco College, receiving the President’s Outstanding Student Award at a banquet April 22. Dr. Thad Anglin, Cisco College president, presented the award to Eduardo. The banquet honored the top students in all departments of the Cisco campus.

For the second year in a row, the Albany Lions are coming home from the state golf tournament with a team trophy. Albany repeated its third place finish of a year ago at the Class 2Astate tournament, played Monday-Tuesday, April 29-30 at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin.
