    Who should be the Lubbock A-J high school athlete of the week?

    Athletes from multiple sports are among the finalists for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal's Athlete of the Week.

    The A-J accepts nominations each week until noon Sunday. Online voting begins at 4 a.m. Monday at lubbockonline.com. The poll runs through 5 p.m. Thursday, with the winner announced Friday.

    HOW TO NOMINATE

    ► Coaching staffs can nominate a player for next week's award by emailing sports@lubbockonline.com by Sunday morning.

    ► Include nomination with grade level and pertinent stats/info from this week's games/results.

    Here are this week's nominees.

    Female athletes

    Taytum Goodman, Sr., Springlake-Earth — Earned Class 1A athlete of the meet at state following two gold medals and a silver.

    Kalina Trindade, Jr., Lubbock High — Won the District 4-5A girls singles title, dropping only two sets in the tournament.

    Niomi Wines, Jr., Lubbock-Cooper — Won the Class 5A state title in the high jump at 5-7.

    Male athletes

    Bryce LeBlanc, Sr., Frenship — Earned the win with nine strikeouts and one earned run in 4⅓ innings in Game 3 of a bi-district series against El Paso Montwood.

    Lubbock-Cooper Liberty boys golf — Won the Class 3A team state championship in the program's inaugural season.

    Muleshoe boys 1,600 relay — Won the Class 3A state title in the event in 3:18.39.
