    Lubbock man caught with thousands of fentanyl pills pleads guilty

    LUBBOCK, Texas — Kazavian Kejuan McKenzie pleaded guilty to the charge of Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl, federal court documents showed on Wednesday.

    Federal court documents said on October 26, 2023, the Lubbock Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration and Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant at an apartment at the 1600 block of Avenue Y.

    The SWAT team entered the residence and encountered McKenzie inside, where they found a sealed plastic bag with 1,000 blue pills labeled with “M-30” in McKenzie’s pocket, according to federal court documents.

    The pills were field-tested by authorities and returned with a positive result for fentanyl.

    Federal court documents said the search team also located two bags containing 2,000 fentanyl pills in a closet, and 659 fentanyl pills in a kitchen drawer.

    If McKenzie’s plea is accepted, he will be sentenced at a later date to no more than 20 years of prison.
