Safari Tourists Freak Out As Curious Elephant Snoops Around Their Vehicle

Elephants are some of the kindest creatures in all of nature, but their gigantic size is enough to strike fear into the hearts of any human being. Take these tourists on safari, for example. Here they are rolling along the roads, not anticipating any direct animal encounters, only to see an unassuming elephant pull up and investigate their vehicle: https://twitter.com/nypost/status/1793696206125720030 The elephant could've easily tipped that thing over, which I'm sure was among the biggest concerns of the helpless passengers. You can hear the guides and more experienced animal professionals encourage folks not to move, to remain calm, and to just chill. From the very rudimentary understanding this writer has of elephants, as long as you don't threaten their young, you're fine. They're very generous in spirit, extremely intelligent, and won't harm a human unless provoked by any danger posed to their little ones. This looked like a lone 'phant minding its own business who wanted to see what these strangers were bringing into its habitat. No harm, no foul, I say. How surreal it'd be to see that massive trunk up close, though. I get why the tourists are freaking out, but at a certain point, what else can you do but freeze? Not like I'd take my chances trying to sprint away from the vehicle, because who knows what else is out there in the wilderness? For as big as elephants are, they actually eat a fully plant-based diet. So it ain't like Mr./Ms. Elephant here is going to get those chompers out and take a bite out of one of the tourists. But I get it, if I was a young lad and didn't have that knowledge — Google wasn't a thing for a not-insignificant chunk of my childhood — I'd be liable to eject from the situation and take my chances aimlessly sprinting away from the scene. It's clear nobody was harmed in the events depicted in this raw footage. Arguably as clear as Scottie Scheffler not dragging a detective and damaging the detective's $80 pants beyond repair. Sorry, Louisville Metro Police Department. That was a bit of a cheap shot. But seriously, make like an elephant, be more benevolent, and drop the Scottie case. For your sake and everyone else's.
