Brother Of College Football Star QB Announces Commitment To New Big Ten Program

On Saturday, the younger brother of Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava and four-star 2025 quarterback Madden Iamaleava announced his college decision.

Unlike his brother who left Southern California for the Southern portion of the country, Madden Iamaleava will be staying fairly close to home. The No. 164 overall recruit and No. 11 ranked quarterback in the country announced via a social media post with On3's Hayes Fawcett that he would be committing to UCLA.

He chose UCLA over programs like Auburn, Ole Miss, Miami, Nebraska and Tennessee where his brother is going to start this season. This is a major win for UCLA's new staff headlined by head coach DeShaun Foster and offensive coordinator Eric Bieneimy, as Iamaleava is now their first four-star in the 2025 class and highest-ranked commit.

Warren quarterback Madden Iamaleava is under pressure by St. Bonaventure's Jacob Moraga as he fires a pass during the first quarter of the Seraphs' 24-21 win in the CIF-SS Division 3 championship game on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at Ventura High's Larrabee Stadium.

When talking about what set the Bruins apart from the rest of the pack, Iamaleava cited the NFL pedigree that the new staff offers.

“The new staff at UCLA has great NFL experience and getting to the NFL is my goal,” Iamaleava told On3 's Chad Simmons. “Coach White and Coach Eric Bieneimy have coached in the NFL, they have great knowledge and they are great coaches.

“Visiting UCLA with the new staff has been great. They’ve shown a lot of interest in me, the staff has a plan and Coach DeShaun Foster is looking to get UCLA back to where it’s been.”

This past season was his first year as the starter, as he was the backup to his older brother the first couple of years. He hit the ground running, throwing for 3,626 yards and 43 touchdowns with just four interceptions.

With his addition, UCLA's class is expected to jump from the No. 43 class in the country to the No. 34 class in the country.
