Steve Wiltfong of On3 Sports reported Friday that, according to a source close to Dorian Brew LSU, Texas, and USC are best positioned, to secure a commitment from the 6’1″ 200 lbs cornerback.

“USC is a program that has been kinda of a sexy name around Brew after some visits out there,” the source said, “[He likes] the new coaching staff. And D’Anton Lynn, the defensive coordinator is kind of leading that charge and making things attractive out there at USC.”

USC Football extended an offer to Brew in January 2024. He has already visited in an unofficial capacity and has an official visit scheduled for June 7-9th.

“With all the coaches on the defensive staff, they’re one of the best in the country,” Brew told On3’s Chad Simmons of USC. “Coach Belk, he was a coordinator and now, he’s the defensive backs coach. Coach Lynn, he came from the NFL. He has NFL experience and that means he’ll be running an NFL-style defense. That’s important to me because my goal is to go to the NFL. If I’m playing in an NFL-style defense in college, it’ll be an easy transition for me once I get to the NFL.”

The Trojans have overhauled their defensive coaching staff in an attempt to turn around a historically bad defense in 2023. Brew referenced Doug Belk and D’Anton Lynn. Belk was the defensive coordinator for the Houston Cougars and is currently the Trojans’ defensive back coach. Lynn, now SC defensive coordinator, turned UCLA’s defense into one of the best in the nation in one season last year. Lynn has worked for several NFL clubs, most recently for the Baltimore Ravens.

The Conroe High School junior is the No. 29 overall prospect, the No. 4 cornerback, and the No. 8 player in Texas according to the On3 Industry Ranking , a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
