Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump pinned the blame for graduation ceremonies getting canceled on President Joe Biden .

Columbia University and the University of Southern California canceled their main commencement events for this year. As a result, the graduating class will experience its second disappointment, as most likely graduated high school during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. According to Trump, any instance of a security risk, which both universities cited as reasons for canceling, is "totally avoidable."

"Crooked Joe Biden is 100% responsible for these weak colleges, like Columbia University, cancelling the graduations for thousands of students! Crooked Joe is caving to the Far-Left Pro-Terrorist Mobs because his donors are funding them, and he is too WEAK to demand LAW AND ORDER!" Trump wrote on Truth Social early Thursday. "So now young people, who have worked very hard, and their parents, who have paid thousands of dollars to send their kids to school, are being robbed of one of the most important moments of their lives."

First, USC officials removed valedictorian Asna Tabassum from the graduation ceremony program. Even though Tabassum was selected among 200 student applicants who qualified based on an impeccable grade point average, she will not deliver remarks during the ceremony, as the university claimed that “tradition must give way to safety.” Then the other commencement speakers scheduled for the May 10 ceremony were canceled.

Large groups have gathered at Columbia going on three weeks, calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. Some protesters have gone further by calling for the death of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and reportedly targeting Jewish students with threats. As a result, Columbia officials canceled their commencement slated for May 15 in order to keep the ceremonies "safe, respectful, and running smoothly."

Additionally, Emory University will move all its graduation ceremonies off campus to the Gas South Arena due to "concerns about safety and security." There, attendees will be expected to adhere to the arena's rules and will only be allowed small clear bags in the events that will begin Friday and continue through May 13. Most of the Goizueta Business School MBA ceremonies were canceled, along with a separate International Student Graduation reception.

Around 2,000 protesters were arrested on campuses during the past week’s pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Some were charged with misdemeanors, such as trespassing, while others are accused of assaulting police officers. While Biden has spoken out against protests getting out of hand, he has refused to visit any campuses.
