Former Washington QB Dermaricus Davis has Committed to the UCLA Bruins , he tells On3 Sports . Davis had committed to Washington under now-former head coach Kalen DeBoer, who Alabama hired in December. At that point, Davis entered the portal, but new head coach Jedd Fisch convinced him to stay and enroll as planned. Davis emerged from spring practices as the third- or fourth-quarterback option. He then re-entered the portal on April 26th.

UCLA Bruins Add 4-Star QB, Dermaricus Davis

Davis is now the third quarterback to join the Bruins from the 2024 recruiting class. He joins Karson Gordon, 6-1, 171 lbs 3-Star from Texas, and Henry Hasselbeck, 6-3, 180 lbs 3-star from Massachusetts. It’s unlikely that any of the three will play this season, with Ethan Garbers making his return to Westwood. But the backup spot is solidly up for grabs.

Davis is 6’4″ 190 lbs and hails from southern California; playing two seasons as a starter for Etiwanda High School in Rancho Cucamonga. He stood out in his senior season after completing over 69 percent of his passes, throwing 2372 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just five interceptions in 10 games resulting in a QB rating of 122.5. He also rushed for another 175 yards and seven touchdowns.

247Sports ‘ Greg Biggins said this about Davis in late 2023: “Davis’ game took a big jump following his junior season. We saw him multiple times last spring and you could tell he was primed for a big senior year and was throwing with a lot of confidence. A tall, lanky quarterback with a frame similar to Michigan State redshirt freshman Aidan Chiles .”

“Strong arm, a tight release, and the ball jumps out of his hand. Pure pocket guy who looks comfortable throwing on the run, rolling left or right. Can make the off-platform throws look easy and is comfortable throwing from different arm angles. Very accurate deep ball and is mechanically solid and won’t need much tweaking to his drops, ball placement, or release. A poised and natural leader and looks like a future captain down the road.”
