Britney Spears' mom arrives in LA amid claims singer 'needs conservatorship' after hotel drama

Britney Spears ' mom was seen arriving in Los Angeles amid reports the singer's conservatorship was necessary due to concerns about her mental health .

The pop icon, now 42, was placed under a conservatorship in 2008 that granted her father, Jamie Spears , control over every aspect of her life - including her finances and the type of phone she could use. After 13 years, the conservatorship was dissolved in 2021 , allowing Britney to make her own life decisions.

However, recent reports of Britney being injured after an explosive fight at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles, California, have reignited concerns for the singer's mental well-being. Her mom Lynne Spears was seen arriving in LA less than 24 hours after the incident.

Lynne was seen pushing a suitcase through the airport and was picked up by her son Bryan Spears and her granddaughter Sophia Alexandra Spears. When Britney was escorted out of Chateau Marmont hotel, she was barefoot, had her hair messed up, and wore very little clothing, using a blanket and pillow for cover.

The incident has caused alarm among fans and hotel insiders alike, who fear she may be experiencing a mental crisis akin to her 2007 breakdown that led to the conservatorship. Despite this, Britney maintains that she merely twisted her ankle and insists there is no cause for worry.

The singer took to Instagram on Thursday night, sharing two videos that showcased her swollen and bruised ankle. In the caption, she blamed her mother for what happened, writing: "I know my mom was involved ! ! ! I haven't talked to her in 6 months and she called right after it happened before the news being out ! ! ! I was set up just like she did way back when ! ! !"

She continued with a scathing remark: "I wish I had grandparents ! ! ! I can't stand her ! ! ! I honestly don't care I will say it ! ! !" In the video, fans could hear Britney sobbing as she explained what happened.

She confessed to her followers that she had "really twisted her ankle last night like an idiot." The injury, she explained, occurred while attempting a leap in her living room, resulting in a fall.

The singer described the incident as "so bad" and admitted to feeling "embarrassed". She also recounted how paramedics arrived and created a scene, which she deemed "was so unnecessary", insisting that all she needed was ice.

After the pictures emerged, insiders expressed their concerns to Page Six about Britney's well-being, suggesting that she should have remained under conservatorship. One source voiced their apprehension: "I hate to say it, but the way this is all going - this is what we feared."

Last month, Britney Spears' contention that her father unjustly took millions from her was resolved, resulting in the pop icon covering Jamie's hefty $2million legal bill. However, a source close to the legal proceedings and the viral #FreeBritney movement disclosed to Page Six: "The narrative of Britney having been locked away for no good reason other than her dad being evil and wanting to work her for every last penny has always been wrong.

"There is no question that Jamie Spears is a flawed father and the way that Britney was put to work in Vegas was awful. It should never have happened. However, there is also no question that the conservatorship - and the interventions prior to it - happened for a reason and it wasn't because her dad wanted to make some nefarious money grab. It was put in place because Britney has serious mental health issues and was going completely off the rails."
