LeBron James could not help himself after being berated by a Denver Nuggets fan sitting courtside on Monday night - making her jump after she was said to call him a crybaby.

The Los Angeles Lakers were defeated in five games in a first-round NBA Playoff series by the defending champion Denver Nuggets , with the Nuggets now among the favorites to win the title.

Throughout the series, James had been the target of criticism from Nuggets fans - with one fan getting out of her seat to shout at James on Monday before he reacted. James faked as if he was going to rush her, before turning away and laughing as the woman quickly sat back in her seat - before getting up once again as James laughed and walked away.

Other fans around laughed as James faked to head towards the women, with some clapping and others reacting angrily.

The fans in attendance might have been lucky enough to say that they saw James in a Lakers jersey for the final time, with the legendary figure set to become a free agent this offseason and reportedly eager to explore all his suitors.

James has a player option on his contract with the team, which he can exercise to remain for a further year. Should he not sign - ESPN has reported that he won't - he will hit the open market for the first time since 2018.

The 39-year-old will have options available to him this offseason, potentially looking to join up with his eldest son, should he indeed go forward with a move to the NBA. Bronny James could try his hand in the draft despite his stock being in decline over the past year or return to college after entering the transfer portal.

The Golden State Warriors have been rumored to be a potential landing spot for James, though they'll struggle to open the needed cap space regardless of whether Klay Thompson stays or goes. James has mentioned that he'd like to play with Steph Curry , while striking up a friendship with former rival Draymond Green over the past few years due to shared representatives.

With the Nuggets looking like the powerhouse in the Western Conference, James is likely to make the decision that best suits his basketball legacy in what is sure to his last major move of his storied career.

"I mean, he has been in this position numerous times in his career, where he had to make a decision ultimately for himself and his family," Anthony Davis said of James after their Game 5 defeat. "I'll be right there supporting whatever he decides to do. ... It's still fresh. I mean, I'm pretty sure it's not even on his mind right now. But I'm pretty sure he'll come talk to me, tell me what's going on before he becomes public with the situation, just to keep me in the loop."
