    Procession Held For Deputy Jonathan Stewart in Los Angeles After ‘Unexpected Passing’

    LOS ANGELES, Apr. 28 (KNN) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced the unexpected passing of Deputy Jonathan Stewart on Saturday, April 27, 2024. A procession was held Saturday night as the deceased deputy was transported to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

    The LASD outlined Jonathan’s career with the department in a statement on Facebook Sunday as follows:

    “Jonathan joined the Department in 2006 as a Custody Assistant and a year later he graduated from academy class #364, honorably serving the residents of Los Angeles County.

    During his tenure he was assigned to the Inmate Reception Center before transferring to South Los Angeles Station in 2014.

    In 2020, he was promoted to Field Training Officer, a position he held until his passing. Jonathan dedicated a decade serving the South Los Angeles community, he was respected and highly regarded by his peers and supervisors for his unwavering commitment.”

    Jonathan is survived by his wife and three children.

    Key News Network was at the scene of the procession around 9 p.m. Saturday, as the deceased deputy was transported from the LASD’s South Los Angeles Station to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office on the 1100 block of Mission Road in Los Angeles. The L.A. County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

    The procession route was lined with multiple law enforcement agencies along with the Los Angeles city and county fire departments to pay their respects.
