After taking second overall in the Capitol Conference, the Lodi boys’ golf team emerged as regional champions at Prairie du Chien on Wednesday, May 22.

Walter Beld fired an 82 to lead the Blue Devils to the regional title, overcoming a windy day to place fourth individually.

“Kogen Baron shoots an 83, which was good for a fifth place as an individual,” said Lodi head coach David Zilker. “Trevor Kutz shot a 90 with two big holes. He has a knack of coming back strong, which is a great quality. Sawyer Baron shot a 94 to help the Blue Devils secure a regional championship.”

Beld also paced Lodi at the conference meet on Tuesday, May 14.

“Walter Beld shot a 6-over par 78 to really help the team into a position to take second place overall rather than third or fourth,” said Zilker. “The Baron brothers both shot 90. Sawyer tied his big brother Kogen but is still looking to beat him. Our freshman, Jacey Heinzmann, shot a 93 to help the team. Walter Beld and Kogen Baron both made first team all-conference this year taking third and fifth places, respectively.”
