‘Chimney Doe’ remains found in Madison business identified after nearly 35 years
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - After more than three decades, investigators announced they have identified skeletal remains found in the chimney of a Madison business. Madison Police Department Chief Shon Barnes revealed investigative genetic genealogy aided in identifying the individual as Ronnie Joe Kirk. His remains were found on Sept. 3, 1989, at the Good ‘n Loud music store on University Avenue, in Madison.
MPD: Man arrested for fourth OWI after telling police a friend stole his keys
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Madison Police Department says a man was arrested for his fourth OWI Monday night after allegedly reporting his friend stole his keys. At about 7:50 p.m., officers responded to a convenience store along the 4700 block of Lien Road after a man reported a woman stole his keys. MPD says that once officers arrived on scene, the man was allegedly intoxicated.
MPD: Suspect arrested in shooting of man at Madison park
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Police arrested a suspect in the shooting of a man Sunday night during a gathering at Madison’s Reindahl Park. The Madison Police Department said officers were sent to the area of the park just before 9:30 p.m. for reports of multiple gunshots. MPD Lt. Jason Ostrenga explained there were officers nearby that could hear the gunshots and responded quickly to the park.
Family seeks damages for boys who passed away in Sun Prairie retention pond
SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WMTV) - The family of the two boys who passed away earlier this year in a Sun Prairie retention pond are seeking damages from the city. Officials responded around 3:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, to a retention pond near S. Thompson Road, in Sun Prairie, after it was reported two children fell through the ice. Kiana Sims, mother of the two boys, said they had just gotten off their school bus at the Wildwood Apartments when 6-year-old Antwon Amos Jr. fell through the ice.
