    Baseball: Lodi sweeps rival Poynette

    Down 8-6, the Lodi baseball team rallied to defeat rival Poynette 12-9 in a Capitol North Conference battle on Tuesday, May 14, and turned around two days later and pounded the Pumas 12-1.

    Eli Schneider led the way in the first game against the Pumas, going 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs, while Paxton Wyman went 2-for-2, scoring four runs and lacing a double. Dakota Franklin reached base in three of four at-bats, stealing a base and scoring a run.

    Mason Breunig and Kale Schneider both had two hits in a 13-hit outburst, as Lodi pitchers issued 11 walks and struck out eight.

    On Thursday, Lodi (14-9 overall, 4-4 in Capitol North Conference play) jumped out on top early, scoring nine runs in the top of the first inning. Wyman went 3-for-4, with four RBIs and four runs, hitting a double and a triple. Going 2-for-2, Schneider drove in two runs. Franklin went 1-for-2, with a run scored and an RBI.

    Schneider went the distance for the Blue Devils, going five innings, striking out five, walking one and allowing only one run.

    On Friday, May 17, Mount Horeb downed Lodi 7-3, despite Caleb Lord’s two RBIs and Chase Stanek going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Xander Jackson went 1-for-3 and scored a run, while Schneider had a hit and scored a run.

    Will Eckstein turned in a solid performance on the mound for the Blue Devils, allowing two earned runs in five innings, while striking out four and walking three.
