They’ve hit the busy part of the schedule.

With four meets last week and another on Monday of this week, the Lodi boys’ golf team is getting its work in, taking second at two invitationals.

Here’s more on how the Blue Devils did:

Alpine Valley InvitationalRunners-up overall, Lodi was led by Walter Beld, who claimed medalist honors with an 80 on a course the Blue Devils have never played before. Kogen Baron shot an 85, with younger brother Sawyer shooting a 91 and Trevor Kutz finished with a 95.

“Alpine Valley was a beautiful course and had a lot of interesting holes offering lots of opportunity for things to go sideways,” said Lodi head coach David Zilker. “I was very pleased with how the team shot despite not knowing any of the holes.”

House on the RockIn their fourth conference meet of the season, Lodi finished third, totaling a 174. Kogen Baron paced the Blue Devils with a 39, followed by Beld with a 41.

“Sawyer Baron shot a nice 43 that really helped the team today,” said Zilker. “Trevor Kutz ran into some big trouble one hole but held it together and shot a 51.”

Evansville InviteFinishing second overall, at a 17-team meet, Lodi was only six strokes from an outright win. Beld was once again the medalist, carding a stellar 3-over 75.

“Kogen Baron shot a wonderful 5-over 77 to take third place overall,” said Zilker. “Trevor Kutz shot a very nice 84 and freshman Jesse Munson brought in an 89. Both Kutz and Munson had never played Evansville before so both doing a great job for the team.”

Lake RipleyZilker said it was another very windy day at Capitol Conference Mini No. 5.

“Team shot a 175, definitely too high given the talent we have on the team,” said Zilker. “Kogen Baron shot a very nice 38. Walter Beld shot a 44. Sawyer shot a 45 and Trevor Kutz a 48. We definitely can shoot better than we did today. We are close to getting it all going on the same day at the same time.”
