Five local organizations receive state funding to help domestic violence victims
ALBANY, N.Y. (WENY) -- New York State announced Tuesday that 65 organizations statewide will receive $5 million in funding to help domestic violence victims. The money comes from the newly established Survivors Access Financial Empowerment Fund, also known as SAFE. The program delivers on a promise that Governor Kathy Hochul made during her 2024 State of the State address.
Ithaca now eligible for state funding to support housing development
ITHACA, N.Y. — The City of Ithaca received a state certification that allows city officials to apply for state funding to support housing development. Gov. Kathy Hochul recognized the city as a Pro-Housing Community on May 24. The certification, which city officials applied for, makes Ithaca eligible to receive part of $650 million in state discretionary funding that was included in the 2025 budget to help local governments meet their housing goals.
