Hang with hedgehogs at Tokyo's Chiku Chiku Café

You've heard of cat cafés and puppy cafés but have you ever been to a hedgehog café?

In the heart of Tokyo, Japan's Shibuya District is Chiku Chiku Café, home to thirty hedgehogs ready for a visit.

"Our café owner, he loves hedgehogs. He started this business because he wanted to spread awareness of (the) cuteness of hedgehogs," said Mika Inomata, who works at Chiku Chiku Cafe.

Visitors to Chiku Chiku can spend up to thirty minutes with a hedgehog, petting them gently, feeding them and of course, taking photos. There are specific rules for a visit, do not touch their spines (a hedgehog spine is very sensitive), don't put your finger up to the hedgehog's mouth and if you're going to take a photo of these cute little creatures, do not use the flash.

Actor Brendan Fraser visited Chiku Chiku Café while filming "Rental Family" in Japan and couldn't wait to tell his co-star Shannon Gorman about it.

"Oh yeah there's a hedgehog café! They are cute and they eat a lot of meal bugs and they give you a glove and they fall asleep in your hands, but gosh they're cute," he explained, to which Gorman replied, "I wanna go!"

"We literally walked by, we just stumbled across it," said Tyson Sourivoug, who was visiting Tokyo from Australia.

"(I) loved the feel and they're cute," added Ryan Sharkey, also from Australia.

Both said they'd absolutely, 100 percent recommend the experience to others.

"It's something you have to do when you come to Shibuya," said Sourivoug.

"Especially if you love animals too," added Sharkey.

Grandma Didn’t Need 15 Ingredients to Make a Pot of Potato Soup Taste Good

There’s something almost suspicious about a soup this comforting coming from only five ingredients, but that’s exactly how old kitchen recipes earned their place. Grandma’s potato soup wasn’t built around specialty cheese, expensive toppings, or a cart full of groceries. It was about tender potatoes simmered until soft, a creamy broth, simple seasoning, and that warm, velvety texture that made a bowl feel like a full meal. The potatoes do most of the work, thickening the soup naturally and giving every spoonful that familiar stick-to-your-ribs comfort. It’s the kind of recipe that makes the kitchen smell like somebody has been cooking all afternoon, even though the ingredient list is shorter than most coffee orders.

The 3-Ingredient Biscuit Trick Older Cooks Knew Before Anyone Bought Canned Dough

Mayonnaise in biscuits sounds strange right up until you remember what mayonnaise is made from: eggs and oil, two ingredients that already belong in plenty of baked goods. Old-fashioned mayonnaise biscuits use that shortcut to turn just three basic ingredients into tender, golden biscuits without cutting cold butter into flour or worrying about complicated dough. They bake up soft inside with lightly browned tops, ready for butter, jam, honey, sausage gravy, or whatever else belongs on the breakfast table. It’s the sort of recipe that feels almost too simple until the first pan comes out of the oven. Then you understand why practical home cooks kept tricks like this around.

Tropical Storm Rachel Expected to Impact Southern California and Surrounding States | Complex Setup

Once again, the setup remains to be very complex, so it is no surprise that the track remains difficult to pin down with now almost two areas of shift possible. A cutoff low, an upper level trough, and what remains of Rachel all have to interact, with their timing and positioning playing a major role in how this unfolds. Even small changes could shift where the deepest moisture moves, where the lifting mechanism is, where thunderstorms develop, and which areas receive the heaviest rainfall. That is why individual model runs can show noticeably different outcomes. Confidence should improve as these features evolve, but the exact track and rainfall totals still have room to change still.

Four Ingredients Turn Cornmeal Into Crispy Southern Comfort

Southern hoecakes demonstrate how a few humble ingredients can create something far more memorable than their simplicity suggests. Cornmeal, liquid, egg, and hot fat come together into small cakes with crisp, golden edges and tender centers. The flavor is straightforward and deeply comforting, especially when bacon grease adds its smoky character to the pan. They resemble pancakes in shape but carry the rustic texture and savory corn flavor of skillet cornbread. Each cake develops plenty of browned surface, making those edges the part everyone searches for first. This is old-fashioned cooking built around necessity, thrift, and ingredients that were easy to keep on hand. The result remains valuable today because warm, crisp corn cakes still know how to make a bowl of beans or a plate of vegetables feel like a complete meal.
