'Holy Grounds Coffee' employs adults with special needs in South Jersey

For the last 60 years, St. John of God Community Services has serviced adults with special needs.

But as of late, a new opportunity has been brewing within: a job opportunity that all starts with a scoopful of coffee beans.

'Holy Grounds Coffee' began in 2021. It is not a cafe - rather, clients of St. John of God are able to find meaningful work either roasting or packaging coffee for later sale.

Their coffee bags, proudly printed with their names on the packaging, can be purchased either online or at two local stores. They can be found at the Deptford Grocery Outlet and Sicklerville Grocery Outlet.

On 'Coffee Fridays,' the team is able to serve coffee to their fellow clients at St. John of God.

Watch the video above to see their hard work in action.

Spinach Has Never Disappeared This Quickly at a Party

Spinach is not normally the first thing people race toward on an appetizer table, but these crisp, cheesy bites make a convincing argument for changing that. Salty feta brings its unmistakable tang, spinach adds freshness and color, and savory herbs pull everything together in a snack with crisp edges and plenty of personality. Unlike a heavy dip that needs chips, bowls, and serving spoons, these crisps arrive ready to grab and eat. They deliver concentrated flavor in a small package, making them satisfying without filling everyone up before dinner begins. The Mediterranean-inspired combination feels brighter than an ordinary cheese snack, while the baked texture gives each bite the kind of crunch that keeps hands drifting back toward the platter. Even guests who claim they are “just trying one” may suddenly become very interested in where you placed the remaining batch.

I Got Tired of Making Breakfast Every Morning, So I Started Baking It Once

Mornings get a lot easier when breakfast is already sitting in the refrigerator. These protein-packed egg muffins turn a basic carton of eggs into grab-and-go portions you can make ahead, chill, and reheat when the day starts moving faster than you do. The eggs bake up fluffy and tender in individual cups, while cheese, vegetables, or cooked breakfast meat can add enough savory flavor to keep them from feeling like plain scrambled eggs in disguise. They’re warm, filling, and easy to customize depending on whatever needs using in the refrigerator. Instead of dirtying a skillet every morning—or settling for another piece of toast—you can cook breakfast once and have several mornings handled.
