The One Crispy Apple I'm Choosing Over Honeycrisp Right Now
Learn about an apple variety that is super crisp and firm that I am getting at apple orchards over Honeycrisp this month. It took a long time from when the Crimson Crisp apple was first bred until it was available to be grown commercially. It was first developed in the 1970s by the PRI (Purdue, Rutgers, and Illnois) co-operative. It wasn't until 2006 that the apple was released for growers. That is a long time in the development process. You don't get rich quick by developing a new apple variety!

What to Know About Buying Strawberries in September
Learn what you need to know about buying strawberries as we head into the first days of fall. While the peak strawberry season has long passed us by, strawberries are always available in the stores. Where I am near Portland, Oregon, we actually still have some strawberries at the market. There is a widely-grown variety here called Albion that is an everbearing variety, which means it continues to produce fruit throughout the growing season. They slow down in the heat of the summer, but begin picking up now until the weather cools down more.
