72-year-old man faces charges after investigators find thousands of child images
By Linda Cook,
13 hours agoA 72-year-old Davenport man was being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond Tuesday after police say they found thousands of images of children - some as young as toddlers - on his electronic devices, according to Scott County arrest affidavits.
On Sept. 12, 2025, Davenport Fire and MEDIC crews were dispatched to a medical call at a Davenport residence where Rocky Sanders lives, affidavits say.
Sanders was experiencing a medical issue and was receiving treatment by emergency responders who saw nude depictions of children on his computer screen that was in plain view, say affidavits, which show Davenport police responded and saw "children as young as toddlers in various states of nudity described as scrolling across the computer's screen saver."
After a search warrant was obtained, about 28 electronic devices - including computers, phones, tablets and USB drives - were seized from Sanders' home.
Sanders faces 10 felony charges of purchase/possess depiction of minor in sex act - first offense, according to court documents.
After he was read his Miranda Rights, Sanders admitted to knowingly possessing images depicting nude children, according to arrest affidavits. When asked why he had the images, he answered "I like the innocence of youth."
Affidavits say that when investigators reviewed the electronic devices, they saw more than 3,000 images depicting nude "suspected minors and children as young as toddler-aged." Five images were identified by a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Series name.
Sanders is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 13 in Scott County Court.
