Gov JB Pritzker, other Democratic candidates make final campaign stop in Rock Island

Several Democratic candidates gathered Monday at Roosters Sports Bar and Grill in one of their last stops before election day. Gov. JB Pritzker, who is running for re-election, says he wants Illinois to be an example for the country post-midterms.

"All right, folks, we have 24 hours," said Pritzker. "Twenty-four hours. And for anybody you know that thinks 'Well it's a blue county' or 'It's a blue state, and I don't really need to get out and vote this time.' Nuh uh - this is the state that stands up to Donald Trump."

With Pritzker were his pick for lieutenant governor, Christian Mitchell; Sen. Tammy Duckworth; Congressman Eric Sorensen; and senate candidate and current Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton. All said affordability is a top priority.

"When we win, we will work to help make life more affordable for people who are finding it hard to fill up their gas tank and to buy the groceries they need to feed their families," said Stratton.

One woman who attended says she wants those elected to reverse cuts to services.

"The way they are wanting to cut Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP benefits," said Konnie Fry, who watched the candidates from the second floor of the venue. "We're going into the holidays. I cannot imagine my neighbors, my sisters, my brothers, my family that is community - I cannot imagine them being without. There are things that need to be done and right now it feels very unstable. It feels very stale. We need to start pushing forward and get some work done."
