Buffalo issues boil order
By Sharon Wren,
8 hours agoThe Buffalo Water Supply recommends that residents boil water before using for drinking or cooking or to use an alternative source, according to a news release from the Water Supply.
The Water Supply experienced a main break that caused system-wide depressurization. Water should be boiled before using for drinking or cooking, due to the potential of bacteria contamination. An alternative source of water can also be used, such as bottled water.
Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. The water may be used for bathing and other similar purposes. If the water is colored, use an alternative source such as bottled water.
The EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1(800) 426-4791 has general guidelines on ways to reduce the risk of microbe infection. Click here for more on what to do during a boil order.
Bacteria samples have been collected and the advisory is a precaution until sample results are available. Residents will be notified when the results are available and the advisory is lifted. The system is working with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to resolve the situation.

Tropical Storm Rachel Expected to Impact Southern California and Surrounding States | Complex Setup
Once again, the setup remains to be very complex, so it is no surprise that the track remains difficult to pin down with now almost two areas of shift possible. A cutoff low, an upper level trough, and what remains of Rachel all have to interact, with their timing and positioning playing a major role in how this unfolds. Even small changes could shift where the deepest moisture moves, where the lifting mechanism is, where thunderstorms develop, and which areas receive the heaviest rainfall. That is why individual model runs can show noticeably different outcomes. Confidence should improve as these features evolve, but the exact track and rainfall totals still have room to change still.
