No injuries in blaze at abandoned Davenport home

2 days agoUPDATE: A news release from the Davenport Fire Department has more information on the fire on Oct. 7.
Crews were called to the 1000 block of Scott Street on Wednesday , October 7 at about 9:20 p.m. for a report of a structure fire. The caller reported a fire in a residential structure, but it was unknown at that time if there were occupants.
The first unit arrived on scene at about 9:22 p.m. and found a single -family residence with fire showing from the second floor . Crews determined that there were no occupants n the building. The fire was contained to the original structure.
No injuries were reported and the scene was brought under control in about 20 minutes. Crews remained on scene to investigate the cause of the fire, which is still under investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at 563-326-7906. Medic Ambulance of Scott County, MidAmerican Energy and, Iowa American Water assisted at the scene.
EARLIER: Firefighters quickly got a blaze in an abandoned house under control when the structure caught fire Wednesday night in Davenport.
The home, on the 500 block of West 11th Street, had been abandoned for at least four years, neighbors told Our Quad Cities News crew. Firefighters overhauled the second floor, which shows clear signs of fire damage.
Firefighters told Our Quad Cities News crew that the call came in shortly after 9:15 p.m. at the corner of 11th and Scott streets. Police at the scene said the second floor showed heavy fire when crews arrived.
At least six emergency-response vehicles were on the scene with fire crews and police.
