Main Street at BNSF crossing in Kewanee closing for repairs
By Sharon Wren,
6 hours agoThe Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that Illinois 78 (Main Street) at the BNSF Railway crossing will be closed for repairs on Monday, Oct. 12, weather permitting. The crossing is between Fifth Street and Loomis Street.
Work will remove and replace the at-grade crossing and repave the approaches and is expected to be completed within 10 days. Traffic will follow a posted detour.
Drivers can expect delays and should allow extra time driving through this area and be prepared for slow and stopped traffic. Alternate routes should be considered when possible to avoid the work area. Drivers are asked to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, avoid using mobile devices and watch for workers and equipment.
