Lights, camera, action!

A live sports broadcast has many moving parts. For the Iowa-Ohio State game, the Big Ten on CBS crew was tasked with putting together the broadcast for millions of people to watch.

"All week we are preparing, and you just want to be ready for when that moment hits," said Steve McKee, producer for Big Ten on CBS. "Any kind of long-term projects we'll get going ahead of time, but normally for a game week on Monday morning, or Sunday night, is when a lot of the prep work starts to happen"

From the play-by-play booth above Kinnick Stadium, to the production team on ground level, each person plays a critical role in the broadcast operation.

"The way we came through that as a team, everybody, it made me really proud, and just I think we have something really special here," McKee said. "It's just the way we come together. Certain people do it a different way, and the way we put it together makes it so we are going to be great."

McKee said the key to a good broadcast is consistent prep.

"You have everything planned right, and when the moment comes you're ready," McKee said.

CBS used more than 20 different cameras to give viewers at home a front row seat for all of the action.

"As soon as we get our assignments, we know about two weeks ahead of time," McKee said. "So we'll get the ball rolling."
