Government Bridge intermittently closing due to inspections

2026-08-26Rock Island Arsenal Directorate of Public and bridge inspectors from the Army Corps of Engineers will conduct an inspection of the Government Bridge that will cause intermittent closures:
- Aug. 29 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Government Bridge will have intermittent, single lane closures.
- Aug. 30 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. the Government Bridge will be closed to pedestrian, bike, vehicle and train traffic.
- Sept. 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be single lane closures on the Moline Bridge and Rock Island Arsenal Viaduct.
Flagmen and signage will be in place during the lane closures. There may be intermittent additional closures on Sept. 2 in the event of weather events over the weekend.

It was first developed in the 1970s by the PRI (Purdue, Rutgers, and Illnois) co-operative. It wasn't until 2006 that the apple was released for growers. That is a long time in the development process. You don't get rich quick by developing a new apple variety!

Missing since 2015 from Columbus, Ohio: 6-month-old Deklon Ford and his 28-year-old mother vanished
Deklon Ford disappeared from Columbus, Ohio (Franklin County), on May 6, 2015, with his mother, Brittany Anne Ford (pictured below), according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Deklon's photo above (far right) has been age progressed to 8, though he would now be 11. His mother would now be 40.
