Geneseo Police Department’s K9 Kauzi dies

K9 Kauzi, who served with the Geneseo Police Department, has died.

According to a post on the Geneseo Police Department’s Facebook page, K9 Kauzi served the Geneseo Police Department beginning May 2019. He began his career partnered with Officer Dan Davis and was partnered with Sgt. Jamison Weisser in 2021.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of K9 Kauzi, who passed away last night at the age of 9.

Throughout his career, Kauzi was a dedicated police K9 and a valued member of our department. He worked alongside our officers, trained with K9 teams throughout the area and represented the Geneseo Police Department at numerous community events.

Those who had the opportunity to meet Kauzi knew how much he enjoyed being around people. He especially enjoyed K9 demonstrations and the attention that came along with them.

Kauzi served our department and community faithfully for more than seven years. During that time, he was more than a police K9. He was a trusted partner, a member of our department and a familiar and loved part of our community.
