Only one race remains in the regular point season at Davenport Speedway. When racing returns to the track after the Mississippi Valley Fair, it will be Season Championship night.

Among the many questions to be answered on Friday, Aug. 14:

Will the IMCA Late Model class see a repeat winner? Through the first seven late model races, there have been seven different winners at Davenport. In the modern late model era at Davenport Speedway (1998-present), there has not been a season without a repeat winner in the late model class.

Which drivers will become first-time track champions at Davenport? Going into the final night of the regular season, three of the six weekly classes are guaranteed a first-time track champion. As the points stand, IMCA Late Models, IMCA Stock Cars, and IMCA Hobby Stocks will have new champions crowned.

Will the point battles affect the racing action on Season Championship night? Three of the six weekly classes have a point difference between first and second place is in the single digits.  Two of those classes have three drivers within five points of the lead. The closest battles are in the Koehler Electric Street Stocks, the Wangelin’s Auto IMCA Hobby Stocks, and the D&K Home Products IMCA Stock Cars.

The grandstand will open at 5 p.m. Hot laps start at 6:30 p.m., with racing afterward. For more information, visit here.
